In 2023, through a series of fortunate events, I had the pleasure of visiting the HO scale model train layout created by the Wyoming Division Historical Society in Cornville, Arizona. This impressive installation, filling a 3,750-square-foot building, was built to help “preserve the history of the Union Pacific Railroad’s Wyoming Division from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Ogden, Utah” through 1957. I was hooked by the model’s visually stunning and historically accurate representations of key points on this route, and by the vibrant community that comes together to conduct railroad operations in Cornville. The photos in this gallery were taken on a series of visits to the installation. I am always impressed by the skills, knowledge, and passion of Allen, Lenny, and others there who bring this route to life, and I look forward to many more visits to the layout in 2024.
